To all our Club Coaches / Members,

As communicated in our last letter on 14 October 2021, at our AGM which took place on 7 October 2021, Albert Johnston, John Cannon and Noel Synnott stepped down as Chairman, Secretary and Executive Committee member respectively. The Executive Committee met on Tuesday 9 November 2021 for the first time since the AGM. We were delighted to welcome our new committee members to their first meeting. Stuart Fagan, Fergal Hurley, and Dave Barry were all nominated & approved during the AGM. We, as an Executive Committee are delighted to have Stuart, Fergal, and Dave on board.

As required under the Club’s Constitution, the four Executive Officers in the order of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-Chairman should be elected by the Executive Members(as elected at the AGM). The results of the election process were as follows:

Chairman – Gavin Jones

Secretary – Kieron McCarthy

Treasurer – Keith McDonald

Vice-Chairman – Peter Bowden

Gavin had this to say about his appointment;

“Firstly, I would like to thank Albert and John for all their sterling work over the years, our Club would not be in this strong position if it wasn’t for people like Albert and John. It’s an honour to have been elected as Chairman of the club that I have played with continuously since the age of 7, I’m sure my current managers would use the term “played” more loosely when describing the last few years! I’m thoroughly looking forward to working with all our great members to ensure we continue to improve as a club on a day-to-day basis.

As I said in my Treasurers address at our recent AGM, my main aim is to ensure that our players are provided with the best facilities so that their experience can be as enjoyable as possible. This will continue to be my main priority as I move into my new role. We are actively looking at ways to improve our current facilities, for example, a state of the art irrigation system, safety netting and storage facilities for Pitch 23 and a complete refurbishment of the ground floor of our Clubhouse.

Thank you to the Executive Committee members (past and present) and to Barry, Philip, Sean and JDF from the Senior section for everything over the years, here’s to a successful future both on and off the pitch!”
